Additional PalmOne IIIxe Personal Handheld Organizer Information

The Palm IIIxe handheld builds on earlier Palm III models by offering more memory and more options. Its 8 MB of RAM (four times the memory of the popular Palm IIIe) and 2 MB of flash ROM keep track of all your appointments, memos, to-do items, expense items, and e-mail, plus you can add thousands of third-party applications. Although the Palm IIIe and IIIx models have ample memory for many users, the Palm IIIxe better supports users who rely upon their organizer for data-heavy operations.

The Palm IIIxe is more powerful than its predecessors, but it retains all of the Palm IIIx's and IIIe's convenience features. It measures a mere 4.7 by 3.2 by 0.7 inches and weighs 6 ounces. Backing up and exchanging information with desktop PCs and popular PIMs requires just a touch of a button on the included HotSync cradle. The infrared port allows you to instantly beam business card information, phone lists, data, and applications to other infrared-equipped devices. It also features a sharp backlit LCD screen, legible in both dim and bright light.

The contents of the Palm IIIxe box include the Palm IIIxe handheld, a CD-ROM with an extensive assortment of Palm Desktop software applications, two AAA batteries, a DB-25 adapter, a HotSync cradle, a manual, and a Getting Started quick guide. You may further customize your Palm IIIxe organizer with third-party add-on peripherals such as modems or voice recorders. This device runs for approximately two months on just two AAA batteries and comes with a one-year manufacturer's warranty.

What Customers Say About PalmOne IIIxe Personal Handheld Organizer:

And as always with me, the price was right. Syncing was a breeze. It would have been nice if the screen was backlit but that's one of the reasons I upgraded to the Z99. I loved this product. It kept me organized and on-time. I used this until I upgraded to the Palm Z99.

Sturdy design and you feel like you've got something powerful in your hand when you use it. Not even a scratch on it. The only 'flaw' was the graffiti took some getting use since it is an older version of the software - at least I imagine that is the issue.All-in-all.great purchase and unit. Just a quick note to say I purchased the IIIxe as a refurbished unit and it is great. Not a problem at all. Looks like something built to MIL specs - which is good.

When I contacted the reseller again, I received the following professional response: "Bite Me.".So if you buy one of these used be careful. I emailed the reseller and was told it would be sent overnight. I ordered this from a reseller, cg_enterprises@tds.net. The unit arrived without a cradle to charge it. Four days later it has not arrived.

at night I dl avantgo and read news from the otherside of the world before bed.I'm a broadcast engineer with high end editing systems that I built myself and I keep watching for something that I can replace this workhorse with, but no go so far. The long battery life and using nimh AAAs is the clincher, just can't beat the little rascle. The HP jornada line with the instant on and long battery life have caught me eye, but I don't care for windows CE. I also type memos with a keyboard when I'm in the field. it is great for addresses and calendar + todos. bought it in 2001 from Amazon. I still use my palm IIIxe. Actually this is my second one, my first one bit the dust, so I bought a refurb for $39.00 and it synced up with the 4.1 OS. Also this is used daily from am to pm.

No clue what the problem is, but after 2 hours trying to figure it out, I just gave up. I really loved my Sharp though. The battery operated PDAs are the way to go because they can last forever in your purse and you don't have to remember to charge it. However, I just want it for names and addresses to replace an old trusty Sharp Wizard that they don't make anymore.

The person I bought from on Amazon was great and honest too. The Palm IIIxe seems pretty sturdy, but we'll see in the long run. That simple. It's not color which I don't care about, but I am having a bit of a hard time seeing the screen well. I have had a terrible time getting it to synch correctly with Outlook and I couldn't get it to synch at all with Palm Desktop 3.5.3. So.if that fits your situation and you want to synch for email and download from AVantgo, then do not buy this. What i like about the Palm IIIxe is that it's battery-operated (2 AAAs)- i honestly don't even fathom why people complain about this feature - they're nuts.

Either with Palm or Sharp, this beats carrying around a paper and pencil organizer. I just bought this PDA used from Amazon and I'm pretty pleased with it. I use Outlook Express, not Outlook and it took a lot of trial and error, but I can get it to synch names and addresses, but I can NOT get email to work since i don't use Outlook as my default mail handler. If the battery is dead while you're on the go - just run to a convenience store and buy AAAs.
